Audiobook Narration

A

I am pleased to announce I am an official Partner Member of an organisation that values ethics and excellence in self-publishing.

Alliance of Independent Authors

Recently, I narrated my latest novel, In Honour Bound, for an audio book version. The studio were very complimentary about my efforts, which was lovely and gratifying. So it set me thinking about adding this kind of work to my portfolio. When authors (particularly indie authors) consider producing an audiobook, it can seem like a monumental challenge. I think I can help reduce some of the pressure by narrating their book for them at a highly competitive rate.

I charge fees on hourly basis.

Typically, for a novel – based on the complexity and length of the book and where the studio is – these range from £50 to £65 per hour. This is at the low end of the Equity fee structure guidelines.

Additionally, I offer a 50% discount to members of The Alliance of Independent Authors.

A novel of 100,000 words usually takes between two and a half to three days to complete.

As a medical journalist, I am also happy to narrate health and scientific books.

Testimonials

The team at ON has had the pleasure of working with Christine Webber for almost a decade now. Christine is the ultimate professional, with a breadth of knowledge expanding beyond her expertise of relationships – be it health, fitness or personal finance.  Christine masters a brief quickly and is great sounding board to get a perspective on upcoming projects. With a wealth of experience both on camera and on mic, she has the perfect and authoritative voice for radio and television.  We wish her well in transferring these skills into audio narration.

Ellen Ockey, Director and Co-Founder of On Broadcast Communications

In my management roles at Kuoni and Corinthia Hotels, I worked with Christine Webber on annual advertising and PR campaigns for the brands.

Christine has a wonderful voice for radio and recordings in general.  She is also someone who grasps ideas and concepts very quickly.   As such, I used her on several broadcast campaigns where both her intelligence and broadcasting expertise gave us a distinct advantage.

I am not at all surprised that she is venturing into narrating audio books. I think her talents would be a real asset for authors, particularly as she is a writer herself.

2009 – 2013 – Group Director, PR & Brand Development: Kuoni Travel Ltd

We were very lucky to work with Christine as both an author and audiobook reader. Narrating an audiobook is a very specific skill and Christine executed her own work beautifully. As an author herself she has a real understanding of how to portray meaning, giving the right pace and emphasis and we are positive she would be able to bring this to any audiobook. She was a joy to have in studio and we thoroughly enjoyed working alongside her from start to finish. With 40 years experience in broadcasting she has a warm, reassuring voice suited to either fiction or non-fiction.
