The Medical Journalists’ Association Dr David Delvin Award for Sex and Sexual Health Journalism
To celebrate the life and work of my late husband, I have sponsored an award in his memory, which is presented at the Annual Awards of the Medical Journalists’ Association every
summer. It can be entered by anyone writing or broadcasting about the subject.
David was a member of the organisation all his working life and had been both Chair and Vice-Chair and served on the committee for some 40 years.
In his career as a medical journalist, author, doctor and broadcaster, he covered every medical subject you can imagine. But his specialties were sex, relationships, and sexual medicine.
He wrote on those subjects in a very clear and accessible way and believed strongly that his
work should inform and entertain as wide a range of individuals as possible.
Any writers, bloggers or broadcasters who want to submit their work for the award can find more details on the Medical Journalists’ Association website.
I am delighted that Patrick Strudwick, LGBT editor of BuzzfeedNews won the inaugural prize, which I presented to him at the MJA Awards on 12th June 2019.
